Life Skills Development Courses with Horses
What in the heck are ‘Life Skills Development Courses with Horses’ anyways? These are programs where the horse is the teacher! That’s right!! In these unique programs we partner with the horse in a completely unique and life changing way that helps humans of all ages with personal growth, improved mental health and increased self-esteem!
To put it simply - Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is a 'learner-based' educational experience with horses. More specifically it is an effective approach to human development that encourages individual and team growth. The program is designed to develop the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being of each participant.
EAL does not focus on horsemanship, but rather our relationship with our horses and ensuring that we are allowing our horses to be the teacher through validated, hands-on experience.
Participants engage in objectively driven exercises where they learn valuable life skills in an exciting, fun and safe atmosphere while working with horses. This program has proven to be an effective, powerful, positive, educational, and creative method of building life skills.
The Equine Connection - Academy of Equine Assisted Learning’s Building Block Curriculum Program emphasizes their objectively driven exercises and facilitating the development of life skills through positively reinforced interaction with horses. Each exercise focuses on an objective such as leadership, understanding and creating boundaries, communication and problem solving. Exercises are developed to encourage self-esteem and inner confidence through hands on experiences with horses. The skills developed during the exercises can be applied to participants real life situations. Participants leave the program feeling empowered to make positive changes in their own lives. Experiential learning through these programs is extremely effective as participants are more likely to retain the newly acquired skill.
The designer of these amazing programs took all that’s been researched on how human beings learn, and all the research that’s been done on wild horses, and brought the two together to create experiential learning programs. These programs are designed to help human beings learn and understand the changes that they need to make within themselves. Equine Assisted Learning works, because it's not the people that are the teachers, it's the horses!
This program is Internationally Certified and regulated through the EAL Network.
