Laila came into Tracy’s life over 10 years ago and at that time they had big dreams of barrel racing. Laila sustained an injury to one of her front hooves that she was never able to fully recover from, cutting their barrel racing career short.  She greets everyone with her gentle and loving nicker.  Tracy can hear her from across the yard most days!  She has overcome her trauma and injury and her purpose has been redirected to teaching! Her kind and gentle spirit help people feel a connection to her and themselves throughout the sessions! She is great at helping humans ground themselves and trusting their inner leader.

Spirit is Laila’s daughter and was born and raised on the Hansen place.  Spirit was diagnosed with arthritis in her right hock in August 2020.  This can be treated and managed however competitive speed events are not in her future.  Spirit has a way of challenging people to step out their comfort zone and ask the questions necessary to move forward through challenges.  She is great at challenging humans through the problem solving process!!

Blackie joined the Hansen Family 11 years ago.  He was Doral’s rope horse for many years participating in team roping practices, jackpots and rodeos.  Recently, Tori has been team roping and breakaway roping at High School Rodeos with Blackie.  He loves to rope and is the most dependable and honest horse in the herd.  He has now moved into full retirement and is a full-time teacher with Power Equine.  He has quickly shown us that he LOVES his new role! He has made a profound impact on so many people in his short time as a teacher.  He has a way of encouraging people to stand in their own personal power and trust in that power.

Jewel has joined the Power Equine team as a full time teacher this year!! She was injured during 2022 and was not able to compete in barrel racing and pole bending as she has done in the past.  She was brought in to ‘try out’ the teaching role in order to help out during a busy season.  Jewel ended up being such an integral member of the team during 2022, that she is now a full time teacher!  She will be able to go on pasture rides this season, but not back to a competitive career.  She has always been a very stoic and hard working mare who was eager to please.  Her strength as a teacher is to help people step up into a strong leadership role.  If you don’t step up into that leadership role she will let you know!!  She has such a kind soul and once you have earned her trust she will be there to support and encourage you in her quiet, gentle way.  She has opened up and is much more willing to communicate with us which has also been an integral part of her own healing.
